A good day’s work

2013-03-24

Time to get the next case study done.
This one is for my oral exam on Thursday.
While I have been thinking about it for over 2 weeks, it has been challenging formulating my thoughts, linking connected items and putting together recommendations.

By late afternoon, it is completed. Whew!
Now to figure out how to get through the next one in much less time…

Grateful today for
getting the case study down on paper,
the resources online and from past courses that helped get there,
and for this photo of nephew Justin – sleeping with the birthday gift we gave him… :)

Happy Birthday Justin!

2013-03-23

After an early morning rising and snuggly viewing of Happy People: A Year in the Taiga, we set out to get produce from the farmer’s market and have a market breakfast.

Produce brought home, washed and prepped for storage…
in time to go to Justin’s 4th birthday party.

Friends and family and floating balloons are abundant in sharing Justin’s birthday.
A lovely time with the nephews.

Returning home, I am tired.
Partially from eating too much, and also from the energy of all the kids at the party.
Happy to have a quiet Saturday night.

Grateful today for
Justin – enjoying each shared moment with you,
and for Alex and MunHee – all your love, energy and efforts you put into your family…beautiful.
I am grateful you for my family.

Babysitting

2013-02-03

Startled this morning when a squirrel attempts to walk sideways along the top of the deck door.
Watching the squirrel desperately trying to get up the house…
Stepped outside to see a baby squirrel looking down at me from the roof.
Considered trying to help the baby squirrel, but didn’t know how to do it?!?
Eventually, all was quiet outside again…hope it worked out for them.

Spent a few hours studying, after making some more food for the freezer.
All done in time for my first babysitting of the nephews.
2 hours for my brother to take his wife out for a birthday dinner.

Well, I survived it.
Changed a diaper, made a chocolate cake for mom with the boys,
danced together and watched Jimmy Neutron, boy genius.

Ready now for a glass of wine, chilli and the superbowl…

Grateful today for
parents – wow.

Diving In

2013-01-20

This morning I was startled by a pigeon amongst the little birds we feed…
Following the pigeon’s lead,
I dove into a day of cooking – to my favorite jazzykeys – Abdullah, Bill and Thelonious…so, so great!

Vegetable broth, curried red lentils, cabbage apple walnut salad, broccoli cauliflower soup,
lentil salad and heavenly hummus…Thank you Caroline Dupont, Eating Alive and Fresh for your nourishing recipes!

Delighted to have my brother and family drop in after church for a visit with Gomo…

Grateful today for
having all the ingredients to cook today,
healthful and tasty food in the fridge and freezer,
and for being a PANK! (Professional Aunt No Kids)
Love those beautiful nephews of mine!

Remembering Kenny

Today there was a 2-year memorial service for Kenny.
It is strange and surprising that 2 years have passed.

Friends and family gathered to remember Kenny.
Nice to hear others’ remembrances of his smiles and laughter.
Wonderful to share an evening together.

Grateful today for
a shared moment to smile and think of Ken,
and for Kenny’s grandsons – carrying on his good nature, laughter and smiles.
…hoping that I will also carry on his good nature, laughter and smiles.
