Sideways Snow

The morning mission: Buy a blender + fruits and veggies for our morning green drinks…
A quick stop into Envision to say happy new year and then off to find a blender.
Walking towards the St Lawrence market, the wind and snow are fiercely blowing sideways.
Hanging onto my hat, I continue and am happy to make it to a warm market.

Mission accomplished, I return back to the hotel. During the afternoon, I am feeling very emotional – sad, weary and heavy hearted…
In the late afternoon, interesting lighting is streaming in the window…When I look out, the snow has stopped, skies are clear and the sunset light brightens the streets.
My spirits begin to lift just in time for dinner at PJ’s – the perfect place for a happy, fun time.

Grateful today for
EQ – whose emails today helped me feel through my emotional state,
PJ + M – for the delicious feast we had tonight,
and for my mate – who always helps me understand and get through tough moments.

Spice

After breakfast with my mate, I set out to pick up ingredients to make a Coconut Red Lentil Curry. Happy to see the bright shining sunlight – helps to deal with the bitterly biting cold winds…

Tuned into Desi-Radio for background music to my cooking adventure and had a relaxed afternoon cooking – using the raw Lucian tumeric. Curry done in time for a a catch up session on the activities and timeline at Wellington with our favorite designer. All seems in order and it is a lovely visit.

In the evening, we are out for Korean food with Uncle Stu and G. A satisfying bbq meal with laughter and conversation.

Grateful today for
the wonderful Lucian spices (have special beans drying for EQ),
lovely catch up visits,
and for a slow food focused day.

Celebrations at Debbie’s

A rainy morning mixed with sunshine…
A last walk down to sulphur springs, and then a drive to Debbie’s for brunch.

Arriving at Debbie’s there is a giant Lucian celebration happening…
a 50th anniversary! The fanciest of outfits in such an unexpected place.
Surprising to be at a 50th anniversary – especially after thinking Nerious’ family life to be the norm…

After a quiet afternoon of football and puzzling,
we set out for dinner in Soufriere – car parked by the bridge construction site, we walk on the temporary pedestrian bridge, past the cemetery to the Hummingbird for a romantic dinner with my mate.

Grateful today for
all our our wonderful Lucian experiences,
the greatest of holiday party times,
and for the quiet times here with my mate.

How Little We Know

An earlier morning today…
Down to Soufriere for the morning market by 7:30, a visit to the bakery and back at the villa by 8:30.
Breakfast is leisurely and luxuriously enjoyed – thank you, mate!

For the afternoon, we are off to our favorite new beach…
Bar/ restaurant closed? on Saturday?
Feels ‘appro-poo’ with our villa mates all departed…

An incredible swim with the fish amongst the coral boulders and a walk to the beach bar.
The clinking of glasses reduced to only 2 glasses and I am missing our villa mates…
and enjoying time with my mate.

At the end of the day, twomates make a lovely dinner at the villa and watch the Saints play the 49ers…
A great and exciting game – even though our Saints did not win. :(

On our 7th trip to St Lucia, I am amazed at how little we know of this island…
new beaches, new markets to visit…and all in the neighborhood we ‘know’ so well…

Grateful today for
a lovely, relaxed day with my mate,
the sunshine that warmed us in the day,
and the night sounds of the tree frogs and crickets.

Empty Villa

Friends left the villa today.
All through last night, it poured rain. Throughout the day, there were at least 15 downpours of rain.

The villa is quiet.

Grateful today for
all the fun times shared with friends at the villa – the meals made and eaten, Scrabble and chess games played, the exercises done together and the conversation shared.
The best of times…Thank you my villa pals.
